Children & Young People Guides to Fostering

We have created these illustrated guides to explain in a child friendly way who foster carers are, the role of a social worker and answer common questions a child or young person may have.

“To capture and maintain the interest of the children and young people, the agency’s documents are colourful and beautifully presented. Leaders and managers have developed a wide range of guides to fostering, including a guide for the birth children of foster carers and a specialist guide about fostering asylum-seeking children and young people.” (Ofsted Report)

We have made these guide books to explain and help you to understand what happens when children go to live with foster carers. Going to live with an other family can be a really difficult and an emotional time. These guides will help you understand how your foster parent(s) will look after you. It will be given to you when you first go to your foster care home.

These booklets are for birth children and young people of foster carers. This will help you to understand what fostering is and why your parent/s have chosen to foster. We have also included some tips to make sharing your home easier.
